The 2nd Quarter Board Meeting and Legislative Conference of the North Carolina Home Builders Association took place in Raleigh on June 16-17.
I participated in the Board meeting as President of the Caldwell County Home Builders Association. In addition to that meeting I attended committee meetings with titles like “Building Codes” and “Legislative” in order to keep myself current on the latest government regulations and laws that affect homebuilders and homeowners.
On Wednesday morning, together with fellow HBA building professionals from around the state, I visited the offices of the North Carolina state representatives and senators who represent Caldwell, Burke, and Catawba counties to explain the issues and concerns we face at home that are affected by the legislation that passes over their desks.
One of my main messages was to urge our legislators to place higher priority on education in the construction trades for students in high school and college. I was very glad to have the opportunity to visit every legislator who represents our region.
